2011 is
the start of a new decade in the 21st century and as
we reflect on our progress and achievements, we will
continue on our journey, building on our strengths
and striving for excellence in the next decade.
We are grateful to God for the many achievements
attained in the past year. For the school's
concerted effort in holistic health development for
staff and pupils, we received the Bronze Award for
CHERISH ( Championing Efforts Resulting in Improved
School Health ) .The school has also sustained its
efforts in Sports and Aesthetics with the
achievement of the Sustained Achievement Award for
Sports for the 3rd time and for the second time for
Aesthetics. In the area of sports, the girls have
shown great sportsmanship in Badminton, Netball,
Gymnastic and Wushu. We are also pleased to announce
that the school was accredited the status for the
People Developer Award by SPRING Singapore for our
commitment to build staff capability and capacity
last December. And as part of our values education
to inculcate a strong sense of responsibility for
the environment among our pupils, we began our GREEN
efforts in 2007 to conserve the environment through
recycling and collaborations with National Parks and
the school achieved the Orchid Award which is a more
advanced award compared to the Hibiscus Award which
we achieved the previous year. Indeed the staff
worked hard and "Moved in synergy toward excellence
with confidence, joy and inspiration" and they lived
up to the theme articulated last year.
We start 2011 with new aspirations and the theme is,
"Ignite Passion, Innovate Teaching and Learning ,
Inspire Talents. " This was crafted by the whole
staff during our end of the year staff retreat. With
this theme, we believe that in developing our girls
to be "future leaders", we will need to develop
their skills as learners for the 21st century. We
will need to empower them with the knowledge, skills
and values to face the challenges of a future driven
by globalization and technological advancements. We
appeal to our parents to work closely in harmony
with our teachers and to foster understanding and
collaboration to help our children grow emotionally
and intellectually. It is always a pleasure to see
our children grow in maturity from year to year and
to discover their talents in co-curricular
activities. We want to ignite the passion of our
girls to learn and to discover their talents through
innovative teaching as well as inspiring them to be
self directed learners.
To engage parents more effectively, parent
committees will be set up to support the key
strategic thrusts of our school and our heads of
various departments will work more closely with
different committees of parents on a project basis.
We appeal to parents to come forward with their
support especially our "old girls" who are presently
parents of our pupils, to come forward to build up
the alumnae and to sustain efforts in supporting the
school in various ways.
As we look forward to the years ahead, we strive to
fulfill our vision of grooming our girls to be young
confident ladies of GRACE, who have moral character,
a passion for learning and able to serve with
compassion and humility and to lead with integrity
and perseverance , and always upholding our motto
